starting the week out right... or at least clean.

Dishes. The bane of my existence. It's a love-hate relationship. I love to admire, collect, create, and covet (the expensive ones). They are an art form in and of themselves. I mean, my art degree emphasis was in ceramics! But once they pass into the territory of becoming 'soiled' my esteem quickly turns to abhorrence. Especially since the only dishwasher around is me. Yes that's me! Apron and all. I've recently discovered that aprons prevent my jeans from getting wet when I have to quickly dry my hands to help Emily, answer the phone, etc. Pearls and lipstick are optional :) But every now and then, I remember that the more often I do dishes, the less they pile up. Tonight, with an unexplainable burst of energy and motivation, I felt no desire to curl up with a book or bowl of cereal, and instead- washed all my dishes! Now, it helped that today was Fast Sunday, thus eliminating two meals worth of dishes and cooking utensils... but I was so proud of myself! In fact, it felt so good, that I went into my bedroom and proceeded to put away all my clean laundry (ah, my other arch-enemy *da-da-da duhhhh*).
So I'm starting my week out a step ahead! This means less priority-conflict when it's time to exercise in the morning, which will increase the probability that I'll get my butt out the door. All the same, it will be wonderful when Emily is old enough to do the dishes!

What are some of your distractions from exercising or cooking a nutritious meal?

I really don't know how to wake up early. I got a gym pass, but Cyprus and I have been sick. We can't go there, but I don't want to be so lazy. I don't have the motivation to roll out of be an hour early and get active. Also, mac n' cheese is way easy to cook, rather than planning and preparing a meal with all the necessary veggies and fruits that keep us healthy. I am working on this one. Any ideas?

ha! i just finished my dishes! they were piled up for 3 days. Surprisingly, a dirty house makes me not want to work out. if it's clean i have a much easier time getting out of the house without feeling guilty for putting off the mess.

ps- on your post for advice during the holiday season. Portion control is good. I also take whatever portion i get and break it up into as many pieces as possible. Then i force myself to eat them one at a time. because its not like im eating it cause im hungry, most of the time i just like the taste in my mouth or the texture. So making it last always helps me.

My problem is the fact that my kids sleep so well! Not a true problem but when it comes to getting to the 8:30 class at the gym it is. sariah and Noah could sleep in 'til 9am with no prob. I hate having to wake kids up just to get in shape. Not to mention, if they're sleeping....why shouldn't I be sleeping:)

I'm thinking I might be the opposite. I love to work out and hate to clean! However, after I get a work out in, I always feel like I have a lot more energy and I'm in a better mood to get the cleaning done. A lot of it for me is just remembering that it really doesn't take that long. Give yourself 10 minutes and see how many dishes you can get done. Once the timer dings, just stop. But chances are, you'll be in the swing of things and will end up finishing!
